Festival Activity
Festival Activity is a visualization of mobile phone usage during 5 days of Roskilde, the biggest music event in Scandinavia.
During summer of 2011 Variable collaborated with researchers from Danish Technical Activity to build visualization helping to understand patters of mobile phone activity at mass events. Using network of bluetooth scanners we were able monitor in near realtime how people move between stage and which concerts are the most popular. The height of different parts of the festival area represents number of detected devices over time. The color was assigned to every scanning point depending on it's proximity to one of the stages.
