Maintel
Digital Landscape
As part of Maintel’s rebrand, we developed a dynamic, real-time data-driven artwork visualising service status data, including uptime and performance metrics. As service health and availability change, the artwork evolves, transforming technical insights into a creative display.
This innovative design educates clients on digital risks while reinforcing Maintel’s role in safeguarding the ever-evolving digital landscape.

Concept
Designed in collaboration with Invicomm agency, Maintel’s Digital Landscape marks a transformative step in their rebrand. By combining live service data, the visualisation highlights Maintel’s proactive approach to managing their client’s IT infrastructure, in an evolving digital landscape, delivering solid solutions for a dynamic world.
Solid solutions for a dynamic world
Shaped by various services availability and the number of recent disruptions, the digital landscape is organised into three core pillars of Maintel’s service offerings:
- Orange : Unified Communications and Collaboration
- Purple : Security and Connectivity
- Blue : Customer Experience
- Grey : Other services not part of Maintel’s core offering
Process
Our challenge was to create a compelling data-driven artwork that captured the complexity of the digital landscape while staying true to Maintel’s core values. Guided by Invicomm’s brand expertise, we began by mapping service availability using data from StatusGator, aggregated by Maintel’s data team, to track disruptions.
This data, delivered via an API, allowed us to track service disruptions over a week, colour-coding them to represent different states:
- Yellow : for minor disruptions and warnings
- Red : for major outages
- Blue : for scheduled maintenance
To visualise this data, we designed the landscape to fluctuate with service performance: moving calmly and fluidly when services are stable, but dynamic and textured during periods of disruption. Through colour-coded service states and varied patterns, the artwork reflects the real-time reliability of each service.
We explored various visual styles and layout algorithms.
Ultimately finding a city-like grid to be most effective in representing service clusters.
Grid explorations
Once the grid structure was established each service was assigned a unique digital pattern and a colour palette based on its core pillar—Unified Communications, Security and Connectivity, or Customer Experience.
Next service components, such as server regions, were mapped to grid cells. To enhance the composition, we introduced slight distortions for a more organic feel.
The final design was extruded and animated, dynamically evolving based on live data.
After refining the artwork through several iterations, we ensured that it aligned with Maintel’s brand guidelines and optimised it for the web. The result is an immersive digital landscape that visualises cybersecurity threats while reflecting Maintel's commitment to innovation and security.
